The Morrisite War & its Relationship to the Pioneer Just Family in Idaho, 1863-1887

Learn about the little known story of the Morrisite War and how it became the defining moment for a pioneer Idaho family. Rick Just, the great grandson of Emma Thompson Just, will present at the Boise Public Library on two Saturdays in February: February 14 and February 21, both at 1:00 p.m. in the Main Library Marion Bingham Room.

The Morrisite War was a skirmish between a Latter Day Saint sect known as the "Morrisites" and the Utah territorial government. In 1863, a small group of impoverished immigrants on the losing side came into the newly formed Idaho Territory under military escort, settling near Soda Springs. One of them was 13-year-old Emma Thompson.
