What is an ukulele? Essentially a small four-stringed guitar, a source of joy and inspiration, comfort in difficult times, an expressive spirit, or perhaps all of these things. In Hawai’i ukulele is embedded in the culture as a traditional instrument enjoyed by families, at parties, social gatherings, or anywhere good vibes, smiles and cheerfulness are welcome. This course is about all things “uke”: It is not about being serious or technical or competitive; it is about being spontaneous and open to the pure satisfaction of making music together. Designed for beginners, this course will help you play basic chords and switch between chords, understand chord patterns in songs, learn to play simple songs, take care of your uke should you own or buy one, perhaps connect with other uke players, and find resources on the Internet to inspire you continue your ukulele journey beyond the class. Be-Uke-iful!
